The Linux Documentation Project Weekly News

Issue Number : 39 & 40
Publication Date : 2004-10-06

1. Documents submitted for review

  • The DB2 8.2 HOWTO by Ian Hakes is ready for a first review. There is also a pdf version of this DB2 8.2 HOWTO available. Ian says: This HOWTO is intended for anyone interested in installing and using DB2 UDB on Linux. The information found in this document is based on the experience I had as an information developer at IBM installing and configuring DB2 UDB Version 8.2 on Red Hat 8 and SuSE Pro 8 (DB2 supports way more distributions, and I hope to include more information on these distributions in the future).

2. New document proposals

  • As a reminder, we'd like to point out that a list of new proposals can be found at http://tldp.org/authors/inprogress.html. As you can see, we are still in need of volunteers to help with the review process; particularly, people with a technical background and an interest in any of the listed subjects of the "In Progress" documents, and good English speakers with an affinity for the subjects for the language reviews.

3. Updated HOWTOs, FAQs and Guides

4. News in The LDP world

  • Mirror sites:

Mehmet Ackin set up the first (official) mirror for Puerto Rico; it is located at http://ldp.cnnet.upr.edu.

Paul Kaiser has one in Romeoville, Illinois, US, at http://linux.cs.lewisu.edu/tldp/.

John Buswell informs us about connectivity problems with the Athens, Ohio mirror, because of a move they have done. Presumably, the problems will be resolved by the second half of next month. Meanwhile, maybe it is best to switch to another Ohio mirror to be sure you are reading the latest versions of our documents.

Thrassivoulos Kalantzis informed us about a change in the URL of his mirror, update your bookmarks to use http://ldp.gr-linux.net/ instead of http://www.gr-linux.net/LDP.
